INsight

The Teen Advisory Board (TAB)at the Noguchi Museum presents it's second annual INsight. INsight is a forum so that teens that are interested in the arts can take a look at a great artist also known as Mr. Noguchi. This year, a postcard with a sculpture and quote from Isamu Noguchi will be presented in the front while your thoughts on said quote and sculpture will be written on the back and then mailed to TAB so that a few lucky individuals would have their thoughts published. It'll be interesting to see the results so be on the lookout for these postcards.

Nature and Noguchi

In many of the past meetings, we have been discussing how Noguchi and his museum are very inspired by nature. All of the members of TAB have fleshed out many different ideas relating to nature. After the meeting on March 3rd, I decided to write the following poem about Noguchi's use of nature. Enjoy!

Natural Surroundings
Toriane Agostino

Walking amidst
The jungle
Of metal and stone
The walls seem
To move in and out
With the breaths of life

There may only be
Inanimate objects around
But if you listen
Life flows throughout

The rock
From the Earth
The light
From the sun
The water
From the springs
The sound
From the people

It might only be
A museum full
Of astonishing art
But there is life
Within the work
Of Isamu Noguchi

Party is over and done

Hello, for all those that attended the Noguchi Interpret Party, we all thank you. And I'm sorry for all those that couldn't attend it. But not to worry, there will be other chances like this. The party was a blast, there was food and yes, I'm a person that loved to hear that part but there was other things as well.

Everyone at the party had a chance to be a director and make their own part of a movie. I slipped and fell, sadly that was caught on the video. But it was funny to watch me walk away, trying to hide the fact that I ever fell. Such memories are a gift, maybe next time people that couldn't attend will attend. Well, I'm out. Hope to see you guys, for the next social get together that TAB will have. Bye

It's summer!

Hello all!

The warm weather is here, but unfortunately the garden is still under construction! But -- the new exhibit (Highlights from the Collection) is open now, and The Full Figure and Portraiture is still on view on the first floor. Stop by and check out both exhibits! A heads up to all those visiting the museum: the temporary entrance is located on Vernon Boulevard, directly across the street from Costco.

TAB is preparing for a summer hiatus from its regular meetings by going on a field trip to the Flux Factory (our neighbor in Long Island City, Queens) to meet with Kerry Downey, one of our amazing panelists from this past spring's inSIGHT workshop.

Though we must say goodbye to some of our members as they depart for college in the fall, TAB's work for the 2007-08 season is not done! This fall, TAB is excited to present an exhibit in the Noguchi Museum's education center that will focus on the documentation of the Tree of Heaven project -- including audio material, a photo exhibition, and a scrapbook that will serve as a guide to the show. This summer is time for organizing and designing our exhibit, but stay posted for information about the opening in the fall!
